We Painted the Kitchen!

I have been wanting to paint the kitchen for a long time.  At first we were struggling to figure out the right color and then we were struggling to find the motivation.  Painting isn't tons of fun, but it can really make the biggest difference in a room.  I finally decided on a light to medium green color and I love the way it turned out!  The good thing about painting the kitchen is that there really isn't too much wall space; the bad thing is taping around all of the cupboards, counters, appliances, ceiling, and baseboards.

It took us about two hours to tape everything and Dave was nice enough to do all of the high taping so I wouldn't accidentally fall.

Then, it was on to the painting.  Again, Dave did everything up high and I did everything down low.

I'm so glad we got this project done before the baby comes and I absolutely love the end result!  The whole kitchen looks so much more warm and elegant.  Now I'm excited to decorate the top of the cupboards.  I am looking for some fake leaves on a vine as well as some fabulous African decorations!
Love it!

Pregnancy Update

Well, my pregnancy continues to move right along.  I can't believe that I'm already in the third trimester.  I am currently 29 weeks pregnant and growing every day.

This is me at 24 weeks.

This is me at 28 weeks.

For the longest time it has seemed like October is so far away.  Now it is just two months away and I don't know where the time has gone.  I'm not at all anxious for Dawson to come.  I'm actually terrified.  I get severe anxiety in medical/hospital situations so I don't like to think about it much.  I'm not scared to be a mom.  That's something that I know will be an adjustment, but I also feel completely capable of handling it.  I'm scared of the actual delivery.  I recently had a traumatic experience trying to do the blood glucose screening (pricked four times and no blood was ever taken).  Sometimes I think, if I can't even handle that situation without an anxiety attack, how am I going to handle delivery?  I guess the good thing is though that I don't have a choice and it will only be one miserable day (followed by a fabulous rest of the day).  I have been given the special blessing of really the most ideal pregnancy and I am hopeful for a smooth delivery.  I really believe that Heavenly Father will not put challenges in your life greater than what you can handle.  I am thankful for a kind and loving Heavenly Father who knows me personally and will give me the strength I need to bring Dawson here.

Colorado Visit

I was so excited to finally get a chance to go somewhere fun this summer!  I was able to fly home and spend a week with my family.  Sometimes a change of scenery, even a familiar one, can be just what you need.  This was my first time flying out of the Provo airport.  It was nice to only have a short drive and a short line inside.

I loved spending the week with my family.  We ate at yummy restaurants, did some shopping, and played games.  I taught my brother, Jeremy, how to play Sorry and made him watch Beauty and the Beast (two things he unbelievably has never done before)!  Jeremy also organized a family olympics one evening.  This was the first one I have been around for so I was pretty excited to see what it was all about.  Basically, Jeremy creates mini games to play and you get a score from each game based on your performance.  Then, at the end of the night, the person with the highest score wins.  I'm pretty sure I didn't even come close to winning and it's very possible I got last place (I blame it on the pregnancy).  My favorite game was a water balloon toss.  I was the last pick for a partner but I am proud to say that my dad and I were the best at the water balloon toss.  It was so funny to see who the water balloon would end up popping on.  Another game we played was getting marbles out of a bucket of water with your toes.  I was doing ok at this game until my foot started cramping.  My sister, Jennifer, was definitely the best at this game- she must have long toes :)  We also played two long rounds of "golf".  Here are pictures of everyone's best golf poses.

I can't remember who won the family olympics but I think it was either Jeremy or Jennifer.  I will no doubt be informed after this is published.

I was also able to spend a couple of days with just my mom.  It was nice to have some quality time with her.  We mostly did a lot of shopping for baby Dawson.  The clearance at baby stores in Colorado is much better than in Utah.  Probably because not everyone between the ages of 20-40 is expecting.  We were able to get some really cute clothes for him at all different ages.  One of my favorites is this cute little pair of swim trunks with smiling crocodiles that he can wear swimming for the first time next summer.  It's fun to start thinking about all the "first" experiences I will be able to have with him.  I also picked out fabric for my mom to make curtains out of for the nursery.  I'm excited to see how they turn out!

I was also got to go out with friends a couple of nights.  It's so fun to reconnect with old friends and realize that even though we're older, not much has really changed.

Here are some family pictures from the trip.
I don't have any with Jennifer because she is a working girl now.  However, I can't wait for her to come back to Utah so I have someone to hang out with again!  I love my family and I'm excited that I will get to see them sooner than Christmas this year because they will be coming in October to see the newest addition to the family!
