Dawson's Baby Blessing

The culminating event of our long Thanksgiving weekend was Dawson's baby blessing.  Dawson Crew Gregory was given a name and a blessing by his father, David Thomas Gregory, on November 25, 2012.  I was so thankful to have my family in town to share in the special experience.  Poor Dave had double duty that day as he had to give his first baby blessing and speak in church.  He was really nervous about both things but he did a great job!  I'm grateful to have a husband who can bless my family's life with the priesthood.

We don't have the best pictures of this day.  Dawson was somewhat fussy in the morning.  He also spit up a ton during church all over his outfit, so we couldn't really take more pictures after church.  Oh well.

Dawson's baby blessing will always be a beautiful memory.  I felt the pure love and joy of being a mother as I pondered the gift that he is in my life, and the joy it will be to raise him and watch him blossom into a wonderful man.

More Thanksgiving Fun with Family

It was so nice to have my family here for the long Thanksgiving weekend.  My mom, sister, and I got to do some Black Friday shopping.  We didn't start until around 11:00 though.  It's just too hard to get up early when your sleep is constantly interrupted.  I was able to get a lot of my Christmas presents while we were shopping.  Dave and I aren't much for surprise gifts.  We just like to buy our own.  This year we didn't even bother to wrap them; they just got stuck under the tree.  I bought a bunch of clothes and Dave took advantage of Black Friday online to buy golf clubs!

We also had fun eating good food at home and out.  After family pictures we went out for a nice lunch at Ruby River.

Dave, my siblings, and I also went to see the new James Bond movie- hooray for grandparents to babysit.  One night we all made the drive to Salt Lake City to see the lights at Temple Square.  It was really cold and crowded, but it was still pretty to see.

I had a great time with my family and I'm so glad they were able to spend Thanksgiving weekend with us!

Family Pictures

I really wanted to get family pictures taken to capture our little one and our new family.  I decided to plan it for over Thanksgiving weekend so that my family could be in the pictures as well.  It was good timing too because we probably won't have a complete family picture again for about five years because my siblings will be gone on missions.

The pictures turned out so great!  Here are a few of my favorites:

This one is my very favorite! We used it for his birth announcement.  Dawson is seriously the cutest baby!

My mom makes these hats for my students every year as their Christmas present.  This year she made a tiny one for Dawson too.  He looks adorable in it!

 Our new little family!

The Picardo Family 2012

This was the very last shot we took.  Dawson had clearly had enough!

I'm so pleased with the way these pictures turned out!  I'm in the process of using a few of them to create a photo wall in our house.  I can't wait to get it all put together!  I love my family!

Thanksgiving Fun!

We had a great Thanksgiving!  My family drove out to our house to spend the long Thanksgiving weekend with us.  My mom was still in charge of the food- I don't think I'm quite ready to take on that task.  I decided to plan some entertainment.  During my maternity leave I joined Pinterest.  It's something that has been on my 'to do' list for awhile, but I've just been too busy.  Anyway, I found lots of fun Thanksgiving games/crafts on Pinterest.  I planned one craft and a Thanksgiving themed Family Olympics.

On Wednesday evening we did the craft which was to make a turkey out of Oreos and candy.  My inner teacher came out as I was trying to explain the steps to everyone.  Sadly, my siblings aren't six years old and they didn't care much for following my directions or making their turkeys the correct way.  I guess that's why we had so much fun!

On Thanksgiving my mom a delicious feast for us with all of our favorites!

Everything turned out perfectly and we had a nice and memorable time together!

Later on that evening the Family Olympics Thanksgiving edition commenced!  We played Thanksgiving Bingo, Don't Eat Tom, Thanksgiving bowling, Roll a Turkey, and Pin the Gobbler on the Turkey.  Everyone had a fun time with our first ever indoor family olympics.  Pin the Gobbler on the Turkey was probably the funniest event to watch.

My dad was pretty proud that he came the closest!

And of course, everyone got plenty of snuggle time with our little cutie!

Happy Thanksgiving 2012!
